Principles of Medium and Heavy-Duty Towing & Recovery Guide

As the “voice of America’s towing industry” the TRAA has created the Principles of Medium and Heavy-Duty Towing & Recovery: A Resource Guide for Medium and Heavy-Duty Towing & Recovery Operators to define the towing services, skills, topics, and procedures that should be known by a medium or heavy-duty tow truck operator within the United States. For the purposes of this guide, a person capable of executing the proper and safe towing and recovery of vehicles with a GVWR of 19,500-33,000 pounds is defined as a medium duty tow truck operator and vehicles with a GVWR of over 33,000 pounds is a heavy-duty tow truck operator.

Additionally, the guide may be used as a preparation tool for the TROCP™ Level 2 – Medium and Heavy-Duty certification exam available at www.towcert.com. As a professional certification program, the Towing & Recovery Operator Certification Program™ (TROCP™) is intended to measure certain basic knowledge, skills, and competencies that have been deemed appropriate for those employed as medium and heavy-duty tow truck operators. Participants must demonstrate that they meet these predetermined standards by successfully completing the corresponding assessment.

Principles of Medium and Heavy-Duty Towing & Recovery: A Resource Guide for Medium and Heavy-Duty Towing & Recovery Operators is available as an ebook, paperback, and hardcover on Amazon.
