National Driver Certification Program® (NDCP)

Developed in 1995 through TRAA’s collaboration with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the NDCP is the only industry program recognized by FHWA. NDCP certification is the “gold standard” with several states and many municipalities requiring that tow truck operators become NDCP certified in order to tow in those areas.

Effective June 1, 2021, the National Driver Certification Program® (NDCP) is now the Towing & Recovery Operator Certification Program® (TROCP®) created in partnership with WreckMaster Inc.! The industry's best education providers are now together under the industry’s only unified certification program.

As the industry’s only professional certification programs, the NDCP and TROCP are held as the national standard for tow truck operators with content covering customer service, safety, incident management, truck, and equipment. The program is praised for improving the safety and professionalism of the industry.

The TROCP offers three levels of certification: Effective June 1, 2021 all certification testing is administered via Towcert.com. Got a question? Please email the customer service team at info@towcert.com.

Discounts: TRAA members get an exclusive 25% discount on TROCP™ and TRSCP® registrations (initial and renewal/recertifications) when using our discount code. Members, check your email for the current code.

Preparation: Preparation for professional certification testing comes in many forms. For those that prefer a written study guide, TRAA has published resource guides. Available via e-book and paperback on Amazon.
